Capital Projects

Once each year the Kosasa Foundation considers requests for capital campaigns. For KF, these requests are characterized in the following way:

  • Projects are intensive and time limited
  • Goal is a transformational project such as long-term investment in organization’s physical assets, infrastructure, or financial capacity
(we do not fund campaigns for endowments)
  • Differs from raising annual operating revenue for regular programs and staffing costs
  • Transformational  projects typically include:
    • Buildings and Facilities
    • Equipment or Technology
    • Major Program Expansion

While KF has limited funds for capital requests, successful projects tend to be those that:

  • Have a project design that reflects thoughtful research, community input, and guidance from architectural and construction professionals. Permitting is underway with no known problems
  • The campaign is well underway toward its goal, draws from diverse funding sources, and has staff capacity to secure the remaining funds.
  • The project makes sense for the organization now. The organization is financially stable and can sustain new operating costs after completion.
